Al-Qaida No. 3 killed in U.S. Drone strike

Mustafa Abu al-Yazid al-MisriMustafa Abu al-Yazid al-Misri better known as Sheik Saeed al-Masri was Al-Qaida’s number three commander. He was the organisations Operations head of South and Central Asia including Afghanistan and used to take care of the finances and logistics of the organisation. He had threatened India of more terrorist strikes like the one Mumbai witnessed on 26/11. He was killed in a U.S. drone strike along with his wife and three children in Pakistan’s tribal region. The attack happened some 25km west of Miramshah, the main town in Waziristan which has a strong hold of Al Qaida and Taliban militants. He was the senior most al-Qaida leader to be killed in U.S. drone strike till date. He was born in Egypt and was one of the founding members of the terrorist networks and a key conduit to Osama bin Laden and had served as an adviser to him for 15 years. The 9/11 commission identified Yazid as Al Qaeda’s chief financial manager.
