On May 28th in a very gruesome and cowardice act of terrorism Maoist killed more than 170 people and severely injured more than 200 innocent people by derailing the Howrah- Mumbai Gyaneshwari Express on Friday night around 1.15 AM. The incident took place between Khemashuli and Sardiha station which is near Jhargram that has a strong presence of Maoist. Several coaches were derailed and as they landed on the parallel track they were rammed by a good train. The attack happened barley two weeks after Maoist blew up a private bus in Dantewada in which more than 35 civilians were killed including more than a dozen Special Forces Officers'.

The attack on civilian sends a clear message to the government that the Maoist will pursue their ideology to capture political power and that the nature of threat has changed also,over the years it has emerged as the single biggest internal threat for the country. The government has to take firm and quick steps in order to stop this wild fire which has already engulfed 220 district in 20 states accounting to more than 40% of India’ geographical area.
